Arthur Lennig notes

Today’s speaker is communicating via Skype. Arthur Lennig. His interest in Von Stroheim began with Grand Illusion, followed by his film with Gloria Swanson. He loves Von Stroheim scripts. He was his worst enemy. Very educated, very sincere. One of the first to address the horror of the first world war. He loves feet (as we know). Foolish Wives he became interested in as a professor. “You have a footage fetish.” Erich created his own past, a tapestry of lies. Was a lousy student. Left Austria due to financial reasons. Loves outfits. Griffith dresses loudly. He needed the money so he did Sunset Boulevard. Never told his wife about it. Sardonic Stroheim. Lennig collects film. BOOTLEG. Taught a class on Griffith and Stroheim. He remastered Foolish Wives.

Production Book Design

In contemplation for designing the production book we have contemplated a number of designs,  ranging from black and white film motif, to film poster designs. Most recently after our decision to focus on Greed. We are currently working on translating the Death Valley scenes into an aesthetic for the book.  The current design idea is a pale yellow color for the pages mimicking the filter used in the film's scene. Then at the bottom of each page placing characters in memorable poses from the scene.
So the image above is an example of what we are thinking. With simplification of the background and use of the sky space for content. Making all design elements small enough for content to fit. Then using the Hand from the greed poster for the cover of the book.
